December 4, 2018

Supply Chain industry leader recognized for demonstrated excellence in attracting and retaining women in technology development and leadership positions.

ALOM, a global leader in supply chain management, has been named the Silicon Valley 2018 Employer of the Year for Women in IT. The award was announced at the Women in IT Silicon Valley Awards, the first event in the international series focused on Silicon Valley information technology excellence. The gala celebration in San Francisco included 400 attendees representing women in all phases of technology careers and development areas.

ALOM President and CEO, Hannah Kain was also on the short list of finalists for Business Leader of the Year.

Launched in 1997 in Silicon Valley as an e-commerce pioneer, ALOM today is a leader in providing global supply chain solutions powered by advanced technology. Developing technology that brings visibility and ensures on-time and accurate processing of hundreds of thousands of daily orders is what gives the company, and its customers a competitive advantage.

“ALOM culture is based on quality, innovation, and workplace diversity. Recruiting premier IT talent in Silicon Valley is highly competitive. As I have shaped the culture in ALOM as women-owned company, my focus has always been to develop and maintain an inclusive culture regardless of gender, race, ethnicity or age. Because of this culture we have been successful in attracting and hiring highly skilled female IT professionals looking for a workplace environment to be challenged, grow, and feel fulfilled. We have also attracted highly skilled male professionals who thrive in this environment. Our deep understanding of technology allows us to add exceptional value in our customers’ supply chain,” said Kain.

Since its launch in 2015 the Women in IT Awards have recognized women in technology in London and New York, with new launches in Asia, Ireland and San Francisco. Organized by business-technology site Information Age, the Women in IT Awards Silicon Valley acts as a flagship and high-profile platform to support the industry in its mission to tackle the issue of gender imbalance in the numbers of women in technology by showcasing the achievements of women in the sector and identifying new role models. Offering a series of awards, ranging from CIO of the year through to Rising Star, the program provides a platform to identify breakthrough talent at all levels of achievement in Silicon Valley.

“We are proud to be part of this inspiring community of women visionaries, inventors, scientists and leaders. We are thankful to Women in IT for demonstrating the powerful role women have in defining Silicon Valley as the global technology capital of the world, and to Intel for sponsoring the award”, Kain added.

Kain has long been an advocate for women in the entrepreneurial, manufacturing and technology realms. She is a strong supporter of STEM and STEP education programs that prepare students for rewarding technology-based career opportunities. She founded ALOM in 1997 with a team of expert supply chain management strategists, engineers, and specialists. Today, supported by 19 global locations with facilities in the U.S., Europe, and Asia, ALOM designs and delivers technology-driven supply chain solutions for its customers that speed the production and delivery of supply chain components, all while maintaining the quality for which ALOM is known.

ALOM launched its first B2B order portal in 1998. Since then the company has built and implemented proprietary and highly secure systems to manage customer order intake and processing, fulfillment, shipping, eCommerce web stores, print management, payment processing, supplier performance, and real-time, data-driven reporting.

ALOM continues to expand nationally and internationally. In 2018, it expanded its global headquarters in Fremont by adding 110,000 square feet of production, fulfillment and inventory capacity. Also in 2018, ALOM opened its European headquarters in Amsterdam to support customer programs in the region. This past October, one year after opening a new production and fulfillment facility in Indianapolis, IN, ALOM celebrated fulfilling its 1-millionth order from the location utilizing its eCommerce order management technology.
