- Book by Jim Taylor: DVD Demystified: The Guidebook for DVD-Video and DVD-ROM. Somebody had to be first to fill the needs for those of us who are tired of reading off a screen. This book is from 1997 but it is still the best. (US$42.95, 443 pages)
- Book by Ralph LaBarge: DVD Authoring and Production. A new book mainly targeted at people who want to set up their own DVD authoring business, this book starts where Taylor's book leaves off. (US$54.95, 496 pages)

General DVD Information
- DVD Statistics from IRMA
- Robert Lundemo Aas' DVD web site offers a wealth of frequently updated information (news section currently not updated - but everything else is). Includes many links to other sites.
- DVD Forum, formerly DVD Consortium, has information about standards, a little about technology, and some old information about conferences, etc. While the site is not great, this is the "official" source.
- DVD Journal offers a lexicon which can guide you through the alphabet soup.
- Crutchfield offers a less comprehensive lexicon with more in-depth explanations for each topic.
- Crutchfield Magazine has an excellent graphical depiction of the underlying principle of DVD.
- Useful authoring guidelines for usability by Don Norman
- Useful authoring tools by Digital Digest.
- The DVD Report is issued by BPI Media, 48 issues per year, $897/year.
